One of the challenges that teachers of mathematics and science face is making the material they cover relevant and engaging to students. How do you cover trigonometry, simultaneous equations and even more basic mathematical and science principles relevant to the everyday life of the student?
This workshop has been designed to give you the process and the ideas to design thrilling, inspiring and engaging projects that allow for unique learning opportunities. It takes the inquiry process and links it powerfully with what is commonly taught in science and maths and sets the teachers on the path to personalised learning.
This workshop demonstrates practically how to deliver authentic, results-producing, inquiry-based learning units that develop understanding and skills.
- Teachers will develop a unit using backward planning which also allows for skill development.
- A range of worked examples and templates will be used throughout the process.
- Discussions about how to develop intrinsic motivation.
Dr Adrian Bertolini
Adrian is the Founder & Director of Learning of Intuyu Consulting. He is one of Australia’s foremost thought leaders on practical and real education that empowers and develops resilient, independent learners. Whilst his journey began as an engineer and Senior Lecturer in Aerospace Engineering at RMIT University, Adrian has worked across Australia, with students and teachers in primary, secondary and tertiary environments, to create authentic learning structures and experiences. He redeveloped the ruMAD? (aRe yoU Making A Difference) program for the Education Foundation and it is now acknowledged as one of the pre-eminent inquiry-based learning models in the country.
