Mentorship and Career Guidance Expert for Educators

David joins us in 2021 bringing his expertise to provide Tailored Mentoring and Career Coaching for graduate teachers and aspiring school leaders.

You may know David from his six years as the Manager of the Professional Learning Centre at the AEU where he was responsible for the development and delivery of an extensive educational leadership program to emerging and current leaders throughout Victoria. He has been involved in education in Victorian State Schools for 42 years and has worked at a wide variety of schools in his career including over 20 years in leadership positions – Campus Manager, Student Welfare Coordinator, Curriculum Coordinator and Professional Development Coordinator, as well as Principal.

His career began as an English and History Teacher, teaching both VCE and junior classes. He explored ways to create positive and creative classes while at the same time raising the level of ‘student voice’. He pursued his love of history by being a member of the History Teachers’ Association of Victoria (HTAV) and held a number of positions, including Vice-President, Company Secretary and Board Member. Furthermore, he has been a regular speaker at State and National History Conferences on a wide variety of subjects.

David also has a commitment to social justice and served on the Board of the State Schools’ Relief Committee. He was Vice-President for three years and worked hard to raise the profile of this charity within the education community. David’s clear focus in his years in education has been to make a real difference to the young people placed in his care as well as to support and enhance the skills of teachers and school leaders. He is passionate about empowering and enabling graduate and new teachers to succeed and be great leaders of learning.
